John (Giovanni) De Zen arrives in Canada in 1953 for CN Rail work in Northern Ontario. Teresa joins John in 1956, they marry, and settle in Etobicoke, Ontario.

John and Teresa De Zen start a window manufacturing company from their home garage. Shortly after the De Zen's expand into extrusion and manufacturing. The De Zen's commence purchasing, developing, and managing industrial/commercial properties in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

The De Zen's initiated residential construction in the GTA, specializing in custom-built homes and subdivisions.

In 1983, Rosemary, John and Teresa's daughter, joined the family business full-time after completing her university education. In 1988, Sandro, John and Teresa's son, joined the family business full-time after completing his university education.

John and Teresa remained actively involved in the business into their late 80s, with Sandro and Rosemary taking over the company's daily operations.
